Frequently Asked Questions
What is the dress code?
Semi-formal. Feel free to dress up but still be comfortable! The venue is a botanic garden with a dirt path that we will walk between the ceremony and reception, so thin heels will be tricky.
Are kids invited?
If you’re unable to arrange childcare in order to attend, please let us know. We are limited in terms of number of guests that the venue can accommodate.
When should I arrive to the venue?
We are hosting a casual welcome party on the evening of Friday, July 4th within the same venue as the ceremony and reception (we will update this page with the time ASAP). This is entirely optional, so don’t worry if you are unable to make it! If you would like to arrive on Friday, let us know by May 5th and we will book an additional night’s stay for you. There are limited alternative options for accommodation in the area, so we strongly recommend that you stay at the venue.
If you arrive on the wedding day (Saturday, July 5th), the ceremony begins at 4 pm. We recommend arriving to the venue at least 30 minutes early, so you can calmly park your car and make your way through the gardens to the church, in time for the start of the ceremony.
What will the weather be like?
The weather in July in Poland is likely to be warm (21-27°C / 70-80°F). Both the ceremony and reception are indoors (and air-conditioned).
Can I bring a plus-one?
Due to venue restrictions, we’ve had to limit our guest list, so we’re only able to accommodate those specifically named on the invitation. If you have any questions about this, please reach out to Magda or Manel.
What’s the best way to get to the venue?
If you are flying, it is best to fly into Warsaw— Chopin or Modlin airport. From there, rent a car and drive up to Ziołowy Zakątek (approximately 2 hrs). We recommend coordinating with others and sharing the rental car. We’ve rented cars in Poland many times and have never had any issues. If you are having trouble coordinating your travel to the venue, please reach out to Magda or Manel.
Is parking available at the venue?
Yes! Ample parking is available and free.
Where should I stay?
Our venue has plenty of accommodation that we have pre-booked. There are limited alternatives in the area, so we strongly recommend that you stay at the venue. Once you arrive, you won’t need to go anywhere else. The accommodation, welcome party, ceremony, reception, and send-off brunch are all in one place. We are covering accommodation for all from Saturday to Sunday (July 5-6).
If you are arriving earlier (i.e., for the Welcome Party) or staying later, please let us know by May 5th so that we can book the additional night(s) with the venue.
What type of accommodation is available at the venue?
Most of the accommodation at the venue is dormitory-style. This means that rooms are shared, and guests will likely need to share a room with family or friends. Rest assured, room assignments will be organized to ensure everyone is comfortable, with family or friends grouped together.
If you have any concerns or special requests, please don’t hesitate to contact Magda or Manel directly. We want to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible.
Any attractions we should check out if we're staying longer?
Podlasie
Our venue is located in the Podlasie region of Poland:
Our venue offers a variety of attractions including a small trail, farm, pool, sand volleyball court, herbal spa, small shops with ceramics and local herbs as well as cafes and a traditional Polish ‘karczma’ restaurant.
Kayaking in Ciechanowiec: Ciechanowiec is where Magda’s family is from, and it’s about a 30 min drive from the venue. There, you can go kayaking or pedal boating. Send Adam (Magda’s brother) a Whatsapp (+1 847 756 0527) if you are interested, and he will coordinate this for you.
Białowieża Forest and National Park: This is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and it’s about a 1 hr drive from the venue. It is one of Europe’s last primeval forests, and home to the European bison. Explore marked trails, the Bison Reserve, and visit the remnants of a historic palace complex.
Warsaw (Link to Magda’s Google Maps Warsaw List)
As we recommend flying into Warsaw, here are some top recommendations in the capital city (see the google maps list linked above for more):
Warsaw’s Old Town: Rebuilt after WWII, the Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most charming parts of the city. Stroll through cobblestone streets, admire pastel-colored buildings, visit the Royal Castle and St. John’s Archcathedral. Don’t forget to have some pierogi at Zapiecek!
Łazienki Park: This park is an oasis in the city, filled with beautiful gardens, ponds, and sculptures. Visit the Palace on the Isle—a grand 18th-century palace surrounded by water. In the summer they host free outdoor Chopin concerts every Sunday and 12 pm and 4 pm by the iconic Chopin Monument. You could still make the 4 pm show after the send-off brunch!
Warsaw Uprising Museum: Immerse yourself in the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. Watch films, view photographs, listen to original recordings, and hear personal accounts from participants in the Warsaw Uprising. It’s really worth the visit!
Aga on the Run has made a brilliant, detailed, one-day itinerary for Warsaw that I highly recommend
Krakow (Link to Magda’s Google Maps Krakow List)
A beautiful city in the south of Poland, recommendations courtesy of the Maid of Honor (Karolina Bartosik). Some top spots (see the google list linked above for more):
Main Square (Rynek Glowny): A cute area to walk around, get food or drinks, shop, feed the pigeons, take in the scenery
St Mary’s Basilica (Bazylika Mariacka): Beautiful basilica, every hour on the hour a trumpeter plays a trumpet call that gets abruptly cut off. The legend is that in the 13th century, when Mongols were invading Poland, a watchman in the basilica spotted the invaders and played the trumpet call to alert the townspeople to close the city gates. Apparently a Mongol archer spotted him and shot him, which is why the call abruptly ends.
Wawel Castle: One of Poland’s most important historical landmarks, located on Wawel Hill in Kraków, overlooking the Vistula (Wisła) River. It was the residence of Polish kings for centuries and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, serving as a museum and cultural treasure.
Kazimierz neighborhood: The ‘hippest’ neighborhood in Krakow, it was the heart of Jewish life in Poland for centuries. Get zapiekanki (loaded cheese toasts) at the Okraglak and have a drink at one of the many quirky bars and cafes.
Qual é o traje recomendado?
Semi formal.
Tanto a cerimónia quanto a recepção terão ar condicionado.
Sim! Bastante e não é preciso pagar.
Onde vamos ficar a dormir?
Ziołowy Zakątek to ogród botaniczny.
